Where is the line between photography and performance? What is the difference between a self portrait and a document? These are questions that I have asked from art over time. Through my work, I investigate the intersection of physical experience, memory, and materiality, using the photograph as both a method and a subject of inquiry. At the heart of my work is the tension between impermanence and documentation: when an act is captured, does it preserve the experience, or does it only display it? Using photography, I am giving light to the unseen—the intimate, internal experience of being, captured as an outward expression of physicality, memory, in time.
